Junior Software Developer - LiveOps team, FutuCare Managed Services

We are looking for two Junior Developers to join our LiveOps team, belonging to Futurice’s Managed Services business unit - among friends, we call it FutuCare! Our team

FutuCare Managed Services ensures continuity, support, and small feature development of in-production systems and platforms - most of those are developed by us at Futurice. We provide high-quality continuous & managed services to our clients and development teams, far above and beyond traditional reactive maintenance. We continuously find ways to increase value creation, improve automation and reduce manual work.

FutuCare consists of two functional areas: DevOps team looking after application continuous development and LiveOps, which combines Service Desk, operations, and platforms. Your possible future team LiveOps serves clients and development teams by looking after their services, creating a smooth developer experience, and ensuring rapid client communication. It also improves automation and provides monitoring and reporting of systems.

Your role

As Junior Software Developer in the LiveOps team, your responsibilities vary between clients, as usually a team member has a few clients to work with. The role combines software development and customer service, as well as continuous improvement in the client environments to provide the best possible value to our clients. To summarize, your responsibilities as Junior Developer may include:

  • Continuous development of in-production systems and software
  • Providing service to our clients and answering their questions and needs, whether it’s and incident management or service request
  • Monitoring the clients’ environment and ensuring its production, handling the monitoring alerts by priorities
  • Working with logs, reporting, information security, testing or run books
  • Together with the whole LiveOps team develop the ways of working, as this is something we want to create together
  • Your work can include occasional evening/weekend on-call work (on a volunteer basis or standby)
  • Possibly you can come across with other development projects

Recipe for success

To thrive in this role, you already have some technical skills in software development in your pocket. As our client projects have a lot of technical variety, we do not have a strict expectation on your stack. We expect you to have some knowledge on both backend and frontend, and in addition It’s an advantage if you have experience of some of these:

  • Languages: Typescript/Python/Kotlin/C#
  • Cloud: AWS/Azure/GCP
  • Web: Spring boot/Next.js/React/Chalice/Purify
  • Storage: PostgreSQL/DynamoDB/other
  • SAAS Services: Microsoft Power Apps/Monitoring solutions

We want to emphasize that we do not expect you to have everything on that list covered, or even come close to it. Ability and eagerness to learn are most important,with some technical basis to build on. In addition we look for a person who has great communication skills, as a top class customer service is something we aim for. You will be in close contact with clients, participating in many client meetings. We hope you combine development centric thinking with a service minded attitude. You will work both in groups and individually, and team-work and self-leadership skills are something we value. This position requires fluent Finnish and/or English.

For example, we have worked with Valopilkku, City of Helsinki, VR, Zalando and Fira and FIBA to name a few.

This is a permanent position, located in our Tampere office. We are looking for 2 new team mates to join us during the springtime, most preferably in March/April.

  • 2nd interview: technical interview, where you can do our pretask or bring your own hobby project to show, and have a discussion around your solution with our experienced developers
  • 3rd interview: final meet with our Managed Services Leader Joonas
