What do you do?
I started as the CFO of Futurice in August. The job offers me an opportunity to work in an international company that is growing profitably, with a very strong brand in Finland and a solid presence and foothold in Germany and Sweden. From a CFO’s perspective, that’s a good situation to start contributing to our international growth journey. And I’m particularly happy to be working on developing our finances and governance with a really talented and inspiring team.
How did you end up doing what you do?
I think my personality and character lend themselves to finance & accounting – I consider myself an organized person and love to work in a systematic way. I strive towards having symmetry and structure even in creative chaos. In a fast-growing innovative company like Futurice, a CFO must be able to tolerate ambiguity, and that also suits my character well.
What would you like to learn next, work or otherwise?
I’m a big fan of learning on the job. Every industry and each company have their own unique characteristics that are reflected in financial administration and reporting, so I’m currently learning all I can about our business, numbers and, most importantly, what’s behind all of it. My goal is to be able to communicate about our finances and results in an interesting and inspiring way both internally and to the rest of the world.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy endurance sports, like cross-country skiing and biking. Nowadays, getting new gear regularly has a surprisingly big impact on my motivation to keep up the habit.
