Innovation Strategist / Business Designer (m/f/x) - Munich - full-time // part-time
Can you create and navigate different strategies for innovation? Do you know how to connect the dots between business, engineering and design perspectives? Are you a creative problem-solver with a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset? We want to hear from you!
As an Innovation Strategist / Business Designer, you will be helping organisations make smart decisions around innovation. This requires diving deep into the opportunity space (research, analysis, mapping) and the solution space (designing strategies, prototyping and developing business models, validating their impact) of our clients in a variety of industries.
In practice, you may be evaluating business models for sustainable energy solutions; creating product strategies for industry leaders in logistics; or improving the way med-tech companies do continuous innovation as organisations.
For our clients you will be a trusted advisor and sparring partner. Internally at Futurice you will help further sharpen our capabilities in strategy and business model innovation, as well as spot opportunities for our key accounts in the sectors of mobility, energy and health.
Our approach to innovation strategy and business design:
At Futurice, innovation strategy is a team sport. The real magic happens when strategists, engineers and designers work together from day one.
We don’t create impressive but unrealistic strategy presentations – we define hypotheses and run experiments to reality-check everything we do.
Cutting-edge digital engineering is in our organizational DNA. And for us, “data-enabled” is not a buzzword but a real capability in everything we do.
We are not married to any specific innovation or business design framework. We approach every new client challenge with green-field creativity.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Client work
Solving client challenges around innovation strategy and business models. Acting as an expert, sparring partner, problem-solver and trusted advisor.
- Project management
Scoping, framing and delivery of projects to ensure delighted clients, happy team members and a healthy bottom-line.
- Business development
Spotting and driving new opportunities with both current and prospective clients. Development of proposals and problem discovery workshops.
- Thought leadership
Developing points-of-view that help generate opportunities for new client work. In practice: speaking and writing publicly about your craft.
- Competence development
Sharpening our capabilities, tools and brand in Innovation Strategy and business design, together with other experts
We are looking for people with
- Minimum 3 years experience in innovation strategy and business model innovation. We are more interested in your passion and skills than formal experience or certifications.
- Ability to do quantitative and qualitative research to discover opportunities. Number-crunching is not the main focus, but being comfortable with data is expected.
- Ability to identify and frame client challenges and transform those into proposals and project plans that can be executed
- Knack for storytelling and taking senior stakeholders through a journey from plan to delivery and beyond
- Excellent communication & facilitation skills
- Working proficiency in English. German highly valued but not required
- Industry experience in mobility, energy or health (optional)
Metaskills: creativity in and passion for solving complex problems, resilience in sometimes tricky client environments, and self-confidence in on- and offline conversations
