Design Strategist

Design Strategists at Futurice work across industries to help clients solve challenges in business and the digital domain. They have a strong hands-on experience and competence in design processes and practices. Design Strategists approach challenges with human-centricity but want to impact in organizations, business models and market positioning. The abstraction level is thus higher than singular services, products or user experiences. The Design Strategist is a passionate trend tracker leading customer insights and market trends into company visions and actionable strategies. As a Design Strategist you’ll be delivering impact by solving our customers’ most complex business and organizational challenges in digital transformation - with the help of our ambitious customers and Futurice teammates from diverse backgrounds. Your work has a key role to steer our growing and developing advisory competence.

Examples of what you’d be working with:

  • Identify new opportunities in the digital and physical landscape and set strategic direction

  • Create and push forward strategies and visions that build on end-user insights

  • Lead creation of game-changing digital services

  • Understand the client’s market situation and help them find their position in future by providing meaningful services and solving their customers’ problems

  • Current state analyses of client organisations’ digital capabilities, from user-centric processes to organizational culture

  • Work as a change agent inside customer organizations to transform and deliver on a new strategic direction

  • Your projects might also include helping clients with design management or digital development teams understand user experience and much more.

Additionally, you will take a leadership role in projects and ensure alignment and coordination within the project team and relevant stakeholders. The hands-on co-creation methodologies require that you possess excellent communication and facilitation skills and an inspiring personality. Due to the exploratory nature of this role, you will also assist in business development and sales related activities.

What skills and experience we expect

  • Ability to communicate and work fluently across different levels in organizations, from C-level to product owners

  • Background: 6 to 10 years relevant experience, with a degree in design related field (cross-functional education is an advantage)

  • Experience in customer insight and behaviour

  • Capabilities to synthesize insights into stimulating stories

  • Solid background and broad portfolio in strategic or organizational design

  • Leadership experience, in small to medium sized design and development teams/projects

  • An understanding of design thinking, lean startup, business model innovation and agile development

  • Fluent in English and Finnish and a readiness to travel
